GID Services Inc., Geotechnical Investigation & Design

The Right Equipment for Every Investigation.

GID’s equipment portfolio is designed for the realities of Caribbean projects. Rather than relying on a single platform, we deploy purpose-built systems matched to each site’s constraints and engineering objectives, delivering reliable engineering data from ground investigation to foundation verification.

Steep Terrain / Difficult Access CPTu/DPSH/SPT

Dynamic Daena

15 tonnes push capacity

A compact, easily transported rig purpose-built for steep and difficult terrain, capable of maintaining a vertical test axis on slopes that would defeat a conventional rig. Like the Modular Matt, it offers 15 tonnes of CPTu push capacity and supports CPTu, DPSH, and SPT testing, including disturbed and undisturbed sample recovery.

  • Maintains vertical test axis on steep slopes
  • Compact and easily transported to constrained sites
  • CPTu, DPSH, and SPT capable
  • Disturbed and undisturbed sample recovery

Primary CPTu Platform

Modular Matt

15 tonnes push capacity

GID's primary CPTu/DPSH platform, offering 15 tonnes of push capacity in a fully modular, track-mounted configuration that can be disassembled and reassembled to access constrained spaces such as basements. Reaction force is achieved using augured ground anchors or, where testing must be performed through an existing concrete slab, grout-set threaded rod anchors cast directly into the structure.

  • Track-mounted, fully modular, and can be disassembled to fit through doorways
  • Augured ground anchors for open sites; slab-through anchors for existing structures
  • CPTu and DPSH capable on the same platform
  • 15 tonnes of push capacity

Geophysical Survey

Déja vu MASW

24 channels / 23–69 m survey lines

A 24-channel PASI seismic acquisition system paired with 24 vertical 4.5 Hz geophones, deployed along survey lines of 23–69 m depending on investigation depth requirements, used to derive shear-wave velocity profiles and seismic site classification.

  • 24-channel PASI seismic acquisition system
  • 24 × 4.5 Hz vertical geophones
  • Survey lines from 23–69 m depending on depth requirement
  • Vs profile and Vs30 / Seismic Site Class output

Shallow Bearing Capacity / Pavement Subgrade

Smart DCP

ASTM D6951/D6951M-09 compliant

A dynamic cone penetrometer system used for shallow bearing capacity and pavement subgrade assessment, fitted with an integrated levelling system and infrared laser depth measurement that removes the manual reading errors associated with conventional ruler-measured DCPs, with real-time CBR% displayed in the field.

  • Integrated levelling system eliminates inclination error
  • Infrared laser depth measurement. No manual ruler reading
  • Real-time CBR% displayed in the field
  • ASTM D6951/D6951M-09 compliant

Construction-Phase Verification

Pile Integrity Testing Equipment

Low-strain pulse-echo

Low-strain pulse-echo testing equipment used to assess the structural continuity of cast-in-situ piles without load testing or excavation. Detects necking, voids, and inclusions before a pile is loaded.

  • Non-destructive
  • Per-pile wave trace records
  • Defect and anomaly assessment
  • Performed by the same team as the original ground investigation

The Right System for every Challenge

Constrained Access

Modular and track-mounted systems reach sites inaccessible to conventional truck-mounted rigs, including confined urban spaces, steep terrain and restricted work areas.

Multiple Investigation Methods

A comprehensive in-house fleet supports CPTu, DPSH, SPT, MASW, DCP and low-strain pile integrity testing, allowing the investigation method to match the engineering challenge.

Project Lifecycle Support

Capability spanning ground investigation, seismic site characterization and foundation verification provides continuity from site investigation through construction.

One Source of Technical Accountability

Data acquisition, interpretation and reporting remain under a single engineering team, reducing information loss and ensuring consistent technical judgement.
